Today, on World Post Day, CESI pays tribute to the postal and delivery workers who keep people, businesses and communities connected.
From busy city centres to rural and remote areas, their work supports access to essential services and strengthens social and territorial cohesion. They deserve fair pay, safe and healthy working conditions, and a strong voice in shaping the future of their sector.
As Europe prepares a new EU Delivery Act, CESI calls for universal postal and parcel services that remain affordable, reliable and accessible to everyone, backed by sustainable financing.
Modernisation must strengthen quality employment and prevent social dumping. Fair competition requires rules that protect workers across the sector, alongside effective enforcement and a strong role for trade unions and social dialogue. The green and digital transitions must involve workers and support them through investment and training.
On World Post Day, recognising postal and delivery workers means committing to the services they provide and the working conditions they deserve.
Strong postal and delivery services need well-supported workers. Europe’s future delivery framework must deliver for both.
