Psychosocial risks at work: Findings and remedies
Date: June 8 2026
Time: 12:30-15:00
Venue: Brussels CESI office (Avenue des Arts 19AD, 8th floor) and online via Zoom
Language regime: English
CESI has advocated for stronger European action, including a dedicated directive on mental health at work. This demand has become increasingly urgent in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. As highlighted in the CESI Youth position on mental health at work, especially young workers have experienced a marked deterioration on their mental well-being.
The situation is far from limited to these groups. Across CESI’s membership—particularly in the public sector—workers are facing rising levels of burnout, stress, and workplace harassment. These trends are further intensified by digitalisation and increasing work intensity, with psychosocial risks now accounting for up to 60% of lost working days.
Against this backdrop, CESI reiterates its call for the upcoming Quality Jobs Act to include concrete legislative measures, notably an EU directive on mental health at work, to ensure adequate protection for all workers.
This timely discussion will offer an opportunity to:
- Discover the key findings and demands of the EP report
- Reflect on the current state of mental health at work across sectors and age groups
- Exchange views on possible EU-level policy responses and legislative priorities
We invite you to join our hybrid lunchtime conversation with the participation of (to be confirmed):
- Estelle Ceulemans, MEP, S&D coordinator in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs
- Kadri Soova, Mental Health Europe
- Maggie Langins, World Health Organisation Europe Regional Office
- NN, European Youth Forum
- Antonello Pietrangeli, CESI Youth Representative
- NN, member organisation of CESI
- NN, Eurofound
