
This week, CESI Secretary General Klaus Heeger travelled to Strasbourg for lobby visits in the context of the last European Parliament plenary session before the summer recess.
In the context of the stay, visits took place, among others, with MEPs Per Clausen, Dennis Radtke, Leila Chaibi, Maria Ohisalo, Romana Jerkovic, Hanna Gedin, Estelle Ceulemans and Marit Maij for exchanges on ongoing and upcoming policy files that matter for workers. Klaus Heeger raised issues concerning the Quality Jobs Act, the revision of the Carcinogens Directive, the Fair Labour Mobility Package to strengthen the European Labour Authority, introduce a European Social Security Pass and pursue better skills portability, the revision of public procurement rules for binding social rules for tendering, the implementation of the Minimum Wage Directive, social aims and cohesion objectives in the next Multiannual Financial Framework, and EU Parliament draft reports on psychosocial risks at work, a health work force crisis plan, and safety & health during extreme heat at the workplace. He stressed that in times of a economic competitiveness agendas, there is a strong need for social considerations in order to arrive at balanced and sustainable policy outcomes.
