CSIF visits CESI for trade union policy advocacy on the European Pillar of Social Rights

The two-day visit brought together CESI and the Spanish Central Independent and Public Employees’ Trade Union (CSIF) for exchanges on how EU employment and social policy is shaped and how trade unions can contribute to its implementation in Spain.

The programme included capacity building on the role of trade unions in implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights, followed by meetings with the Spanish Permanent Representation to the EU on policymaking in the Council from a Spanish perspective and with the European Commission's Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion on the role of social dialogue in the delivery of the European Pillar of Social Rights and on challenges in the implementation of EU employment legislation at the national level.

It also included a meeting with the European Commission's Directorate General for Justice and Home Affairs on specific challenges for civil servants, public sector employees and frontline workers in the management of migration, asylum and integration, in the specific context of the recent Ceuta migration crisis.

The visit formed part of CESI’s PillAct project, which aims to strengthen member organisations’ capacity to use the European Pillar of Social Rights in their work.
