A joint statement of CESI and its Hungarian member trade union MKKSz on the recent elections in Hungary.
CESI and MKKSz congratulate the newly elected Members of the Hungarian Parliament, who will lead the country into a new chapter.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to the Hungarian voters for making their voices heard, to the Hungarian civil servants for upholding the principles of democracy and for guaranteeing a smooth election process, and to the members of the election committees for their dedicated work.
Voter’s turnout exceeded previous records, surpassing 77% before polls even closed, demonstrating a unified position of the Hungarian population for a political renew. Over the past years, CESI and MKKSz have relentlessly underlined the importance and added value of the European Union to Hungarian citizens and workers. We therefore strongly welcome the results of the elections.
The outcome also represents a renewed opportunity, particularly for civil servants, public employees, and public service workers, to advance long-awaited improvements in working conditions and public service provisions in Hungary. Building on the opinions and recommendations already adopted by MKKSz members, the union, together with CESI, stands ready to engage with renewed strength and commitment in the upcoming negotiations.

Through years of close cooperation, CESI and MKKSz have consistently highlighted the urgent need to restore fair working conditions, ensure predictable and adequate remuneration, and rebuild a public service system grounded in stability, professional recognition, and respect for fundamental labour rights.
Now is the time to deliver. This will only be possible through sustained engagement, genuine social dialogue, and a unified commitment to defending the interests of public service workers.
CESI and MKKSz look forward to constructive dialogue with the new Parliament and all relevant stakeholders, with the aim of promoting strong, competitive European standards in Hungary.
