Capacity building on the Pillar of Social Rights in the context of German social policy making

Today and yesterday, CESI held a capacity building session on the national level implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights with representatives from the German Armed Forces Association (DBwV).
The capacity building session, which spanned over two days, included 15 multipliers from CESI's member organisation DBwV, the German Armed Forces Association. It features meetings and exchanges with
- Michiel van der Laan, Director-General of the EU Military Staff in the European External Action Service (EEAS)
- MEP Tobias Cremer, Member of the European Parliament Committee on Security and Defence
- Philipp Wendel, Deputy Representative in the EU Political and Security Committee for Germany
The meetings provided the members with insights on the operational practices in decision making at the intersections between employment and defence policy on the one hand and EU level political governance on the other.
The capacity building session also covered an extensive meeting at the CESI General Secretariat, with presentations and discussions on the functioning of trade union advocacy work and engagement in the social dialogue at the EU level, and it featured a presentation of a new CESI toolkit with guidelines for national trade unions on how push for a realisation of the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights at the national level.
