Helmut Müllers has been the General Secretary of CESI (European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions) since 2002. Prior to taking up this office, he was a civil servant in the Financial Administration of the region of North-Rhine Westphalia and the German Federal Ministry for the Economy and Technology. After this, he continued his professional career as a high-ranking official at the European Economic and Social Committee. As a leading civil servant in the newly founded European Committee of the Regions and Deputy to the General Secretary he became honorary General Director of the Committee of the Regions. In addition, he is the former President of the FFPE (European Civil Service Federation).
