Albert KRALER

Research Officer and acting Programme Manager at the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD)
Mr. Kraler is a researcher at ICMPD and currently serves as the acting programme manager for research at ICMPD. He holds a degree in Political Science and African Studies from the University of Vienna. Between 2003 and 2004 he was a Marie Curie Fellow at the Centre for Migration Research at the University of Sussex (UK). Between 2005 and 2006 he was a research fellow at the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna.
At ICMPD Albert Kraler was involved in several international research projects. Among others, he is coordinator of various studies for the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), as well as of the EIF funded project “Promoting Sustainable Policies for Integration” (PROSINT). Past projects which he coordinated included, among others, a study on regularisations in the European Union (REGINE) for DG Home and the FP6 project “Promoting Comparative Quantitative Research in the Field of Migration and Integration” (PROMINSTAT). He co-coordinated the project “Civic stratification, gender and family migration policies in Europe” (NODE). He was also involved in a number of other relevant EC funded projects such as the project “Civic Participation of Immigrants” (POLITIS). Albert Kraler is a member of the EU funded Network of Excellence on International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion (IMISCOE) and of the Viennese Journal of Critical African Studies. He has published widely on migration policy, irregular migration, family related migration and migration statistics.
