Fields of activity
CESI takes a stance on all issues concerning European policies that affect European employees and citizens. It pools the competences of its member organisations in the commissions, trade councils and in the training seminars carried out by the CESI Europe Academy. Thus, CESI is a valuable partner to the European institutions and many NGOs. In its role as a recognised social partner, CESI takes an active part in the sectoral social dialogue. Its member organisations have seats and can vote on the European Social and Economic Committee. CESI also takes part in sessions of the Council of Europe and of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
A competent partner
As a competent partner and advisor, CESI is in ongoing dialogue with the institutions of the European Union.
In carrying out its work, CESI, which was founded in Brussels in 1990, can rely on the support of more than thirty affiliates. Eight million workers are represented by CESI. CESI is a young organisation which continues to grow and attract new members.
Active lobbying
As a recognised social partner, CESI actively stands up for the interests of its members, offering its views on proposed new legislation.
CESI’s positions are supported by its opinions and its commitment to press and public relations work. You can download CESI’s opinions and press releases in the policy positions section.
In dialogue
CESI carries out lobbying work in Brussels for its affiliates, which implies an ongoing dialogue with European decision makers. It draws on contacts with all democratic groups in the European Parliament. It critically examines European policy and is glad to give its view when needed, i.e. when worker-related issues are at stake.
CESI is supported by a network in the institutions that enables it to provide its members with up-to-the-minute and thorough information on the latest developments on the European stage.
