27-03-2006: CESI supports campaign against forced prostitution

CESI’s specialist committee "Women’s Rights and Gender Equality", which met on 23 March, 2006 in Brussels, supports the campaign initiated by the German Women’s Council against forced prostitution and the trafficking in women which is linked to this. CESI is pleased by the active support from the worlds of politics and sport.
"The football world cup provided a way for this particularly inhuman area of organised crime to be brought to the attention of the public", observed Kirsten Lühmann, newly-elected chair of the committee. "However, the campaign is but the beginning. After the tournament is over, the country-wide fight against organised trafficking in human beings must be implemented in a more hard-hitting way than before!"
CESI, which also counts affiliates from the fields of security and social affairs from the various Member States, is happy to participate in discussions on the subject at any time.
