Committee "Employment, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunities"
On
17 May 2004 the committee "Employment, Social Affairs, and Equal
Opportunities" held a meeting in Brussels under the presidency of Klaus
Dauderstädt (dbb, D).
The main topics of this meeting were the increase of employment of older
workers and the delay of the exit from the labour market as well as the
European Commission’s Report 2004 on equality between women and men.
The members of the committee discussed thoroughly with representatives from the
Commission and elaborated opinions on these topics. These opinions will be
presented to the Executive Board for decision on 18 June 2004.
Another topic were the services of general interest in the field of social
security. A representative from the European Social Insurance Partners was
invited as guest speaker.
Finally, the members of the committee discussed with the Secretary General of
the European Women’s Lobby (EWL) the future prospects of collaboration.
This spring the CESI had become associated member of the EWL.
